WEB DESIGN
The Falmouth Dog Park was created to provide a welcoming, safe and environmentally - sensitive dog park for use by residents, visitors, and their pets. The Dog Park is handicap-accessible, open from dawn to dusk, and is free of charge. After joining their team as a Media Associate Intern, I completely redesigned their website hosted on Wix.
USER DESIGN
For my User Experience Design Class, I was tasked with designing a site on Adobe XD. Prior to designing the site, students were encouraged to sketch the sites, create a problem statement, and conduct market research and usability tests which can be seen below. For my project, I decided to expand on my pre-existing travel blog and create a separate identity from my photography website.
Problem statement:
Young students and recent graduates who are interested in travel are struggling to plan their travel experiences because they are inexperienced, on a tight budget, and lack free time between studies and work. My blog provides a solution as itineraries, tips and tricks to travel, and more travel-based information provide young travelers with the basic knowledge and inspiration to plan their own trips – without feeling overwhelmed.
COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS:
Competitors were defined as American travelers who share their travel experiences through a published blog that is open to the public. I conducted a SWOT analysis to determine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats relevant to the industry.
Strengths: consistency, memorable experiences to write about, strong writing skills, financial independence, passion, and good traffic, complementary multimedia
Weaknesses: can be only part-time for some people, always room for growth, could spend more money on advertising
Opportunities: expanding blogs to advertise on social media platforms, learning multimedia skills, web design, and SEO to drive more traffic
Threats: lots of competition in the industry, unethical influencers who buy their following, global pandemics that restrict travel
